Co-Design Celebration in Chesterfield

October 10th 2018

On the evening of Tuesday, October 9, 2018, CareSouth Carolina held a celebratory event to commemorate the Experience-Based Co-Design (EBCD) project for the CareSouth Carolina office in Chesterfield.

EBCD is an approach that enables staff and patients to co-design service and / or care pathways, together in partnership. EBCD involves gathering experiences from patients and staff through in-depth interviewing, observations and group discussions, identifying key ‘touch points’ (emotionally significant points) and assigning positive or negative feelings.

In January 2015, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the Commonwealth Fund established the International Program for U.S. Health Care Delivery System Innovation to identify promising frontline delivery system approaches to health care from abroad that might be transferred to the United States to improve quality of care, control costs, and increase value.

As a part of this Innovation Network, CareSouth Carolina adopted the EBCD approach to enhance the patient experience in Chesterfield starting in March of 2017. Along with the planning of Patient and Family Advisory Councils, we will continue to use the EBCD method as a resource for any barriers that may arise at any of our Primary Care locations in the Pee Dee. These resources are vital in order to empower and motivate our patients and staff to improve and manage their health and well-being.

Hats off to all the patients and staff that were a part of the Experience-Based Co-Design project. We so appreciate your input and look forward to further collaborating with our patients and the community.
