CareSouth Carolina’s Summer Byrd To Undergo National Training Program

October 12th 2023

CareSouth Carolina is proud to announce that one of its dedicated Team Members, Summer Byrd, is taking significant steps to enhance her skills and knowledge as a Community Health Worker.

Summer Byrd, who works with CareSouth Carolina's ROADS (Reaching Out and Delivering Services) mobile initiative, is undertaking a rigorous training program that includes four live sessions from October to December, covering essential courses. This training program is Community Health Workers Professional Skills Training, offered through the National Association of Community Health Centers.

One of the key benefits of this certification is that it will also pave the way for Summer to become certified in South Carolina. While the materials are the same, obtaining certification and taking the skills training course will provide Summer with a comprehensive and real-based training experience, giving her a valuable head start in her career as a Community Health Worker.

The certification program is designed to equip individuals like Summer with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles and make a positive impact on their communities.

Summer Byrd, who joined CareSouth Carolina's ROADS team in 2021 and became a Community Health Worker in 2023 for school-based health services, is passionate about her work. She finds joy in interacting with students and visiting different schools in various counties to conduct well-child visits. Her dedication to building relationships with schools and students reflects the core values of CareSouth Carolina's commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible healthcare services to underserved communities.

CareSouth Carolina's ROADS mobile initiative plays a vital role in delivering healthcare services to these communities. The program includes school-based health services, telehealth services, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) through initiatives like Mobile ROADS, Care ROADS, and Freedom ROADS.
