The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).
Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.
All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.
This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

CareSouth Carolina’s Associate Medical Director, Jeri Andrews, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, recently shared valuable insights on telehealth integration at the 12th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina, hosted by Palmetto Care Connections (PCC) from October 28-30.
Presenting a session titled “How to Integrate Telehealth into the Primary Health Care Workflow,” Andrews highlighted critical strategies to streamline telehealth in primary care, underscoring the operational shifts needed to optimize patient outcomes and care accessibility.
The Summit, presented by PCC, gathered healthcare professionals, stakeholders, and state legislators from across South Carolina to discuss the evolving role of telehealth.
“The Summit is so important because it brings together people from different health systems across the state, along with members of the legislature. Especially over the past few years, it’s essential to have people advocating to maintain telehealth as an accessible care option. These conversations allow legislators to hear patient stories firsthand, underscoring the importance of keeping telehealth available for South Carolinians,” Andrews said.
In her session, Andrews looked at the essentials of integrating telehealth into primary care. Key components include choosing appropriate software platforms, ensuring telehealth infrastructure like carts and dual-screen setups, and staff training in telehealth etiquette
Reflecting on the summit’s contributions to telehealth’s success in South Carolina, Andrews shared, “This Summit is one of my favorite conferences. PCC has been so supportive of our program, allowing us to evolve and learn. South Carolina has become a national model for telehealth, pioneering a framework that other states now look to.”
