CareSouth Carolina Welcomes Newest Cheraw Provider

October 8th 2019

CareSouth Carolina welcomes Danielle Johnson, FNP, as its newest provider in the Cheraw medical office.

Johnson, a Cheraw native, said she wanted to give back to her community through healthcare.

“There’s something about being able to help somebody feel better- whether that be through medicine, counseling or even a referral. It’s just a blessing to be a part of that process,” Johnson said.

Before coming to CareSouth Carolina, Johnson worked at McLeod Regional Medical Center as a Staff Nurse in the Trauma ICU from 2008 to 2015 and then transitioned to a Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist in 2015.

She received both her Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University. Johnson said she made the decision to return to school and earn her Master’s degree as a way to serve patients more fully.

“I wanted to do more for patients.” Johnson said. “I loved bedside nursing but at the same time had reached a point in my professional career where I knew I could offer more, with an ultimate goal of returning to my home community and giving back to the place that given me so much.”

Working in a federally-qualified healthcare center (FQHC) gives Johnson an opportunity to serve her community and provide care to many that may not be able to afford it otherwise.

“As a provider in the community I grew up, I know so many people that work hard to take care of themselves and their families but lack access to insurance and in turn health care,” Johnson said. “Being here at CareSouth helps bridge that gap and create access to medical care for so many in our area”.

Outside of work, Johnson enjoys spending time with her husband and two children- a 4-year girl and 12-year old boy.
