CareSouth Carolina Celebrates Governor's Proclamation Recognizing National Health Center Week

CareSouth Carolina proudly joins community health centers across the state and nation in celebrating National Health Center Week, officially proclaimed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to be observed August 3–9, 2025.

The proclamation recognizes the vital role that community health centers, like CareSouth Carolina, play in delivering high-quality, affordable, and comprehensive health care to underserved communities throughout South Carolina.

For over 60 years, community health centers have served as a cornerstone of the American healthcare system. Governor McMaster’s proclamation acknowledges their importance, stating that these centers are often the only accessible and reliable source of primary care in the rural, suburban, and urban communities they serve. The Governor also praised the sector’s innovation in integrating behavioral health, oral health, vision, and pharmacy services to provide holistic, patient-centered care.

Governor McMaster’s proclamation also highlights the economic and social impact of health centers, which support over 500,000 jobs nationwide and reduce healthcare costs by lowering unnecessary emergency room visits and hospitalizations. With a proven model that helps eliminate barriers tied to geography, income, and insurance status, community health centers remain a lifeline for millions.

CareSouth Carolina, with locations across the Pee Dee region, exemplifies this mission by providing not only primary medical care but also behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and vision services. The organization has expanded significantly over the past decade, responding to the increasing demand for behavioral health services and improving access to care in historically underserved areas.

As part of this year’s National Health Center Week, CareSouth Carolina will host community events, health screenings, and outreach efforts to celebrate the partnerships between patients, providers, and communities that make its mission possible.
