CareSouth Carolina Celebrates Community Health Center Week 2026

CareSouth Carolina is proud to join the nationwide celebration of National Community Health Center Week. This annual event recognizes the critical role that community health centers play in providing accessible and affordable healthcare to underserved populations across the country.

For over 40 years, CareSouth Carolina has served as a medical home — a place where people can experience healing, caring relationships — regardless of their personal circumstances. Today, CareSouth Carolina is home to facilities in five different counties in the Pee Dee region — Bishopville, Darlington, Dillon, Lee, and Marlboro — with more than 600 employees. 

August 2-8, 2026, marks National Community Health Center Week this year.

For more than 60 years, Community Health Centers have made quality healthcare accessible to everyone—regardless of their ability to pay. They provide comprehensive, patient-centered care close to home, helping individuals and families stay healthy through every stage of life.

August Celebrates Community Health Center: Why We Matter

Community Health Centers do much more than treat illness. They focus on prevention, chronic disease management, behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services, and connecting patients with resources that support healthier lives. 

By removing barriers to care, CHCs help reduce health disparities and improve outcomes for entire communities.

For many rural and underserved areas, a Community Health Center is often the first—and sometimes only—source of primary healthcare.

• Community Health Centers serve approximately 52 million Americans, or about 1 in every 7 people in the United States. They also provide care to 1 in 3 people living in rural communities.
• More than 1,500 Community Health Centers operate at over 17,000 locations across the country, making them the nation's largest primary care network.
• Community Health Centers provide primary care for just 1% of total U.S. healthcare spending while serving 14% of the nation's population, demonstrating their ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Community Health Centers employ more than 326,000 healthcare professionals and support staff dedicated to serving their communities.
