August is National Immunization Awareness Month

August 1st 2022

August is National Immunization Awareness month and CareSouth Carolina wants to remind folks that making sure your immunizations are up-to-date is not just a concern for students returning to school. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), many diseases can be easily prevented by administering vaccines – thus protecting you from unseen viruses. The annual observance in August serves to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages.

You have the power to protect yourself and your family against serious diseases like whooping cough, cancers caused by HPV and pneumonia with vaccines. Take the necessary precautions with a simple call to your provider, and avoid potential harm.

“It is really important that parents make sure their children’s immunizations are up-to-date,” said Sherri Gainey, a Pediatric Nurse at CareSouth Carolina’s Hartsville office. “And with so much focus on Covid vaccinations recently,” Gainey cautions that “parents shouldn’t forget about the HPV shot” for their teens and pre-teens.
