Under the guidance of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman and the Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman and the supervision of the Area Agency on Aging Director and the Finance/Operations Manager, the Volunteer Ombudsman Coordinator recruits and trains Volunteer Friendly Visitors. The Volunteer Ombudsman Coordinator visits residents of long term care and assisted living facilities. The Coordinator along with the Volunteer Friendly Visitors are a resource for improving the quality of life for residents as well as identifying issues and potential problems that can be addressed before intervention is needed by the Long Term Care Ombudsman or other appropriate regulatory agency. Training will be provided by the South Carolina Department on Aging State Ombudsman office. Travel to Columbia is required for training. Travel to facilities in our 6 counties is required. Candidate MUST PASS a test in order to become certified. The duties include the following:
Monday – Thursday 10:00 – 3:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Part-time, 25 hours weekly.
