Job Description

As an integral part of the Finance Department, the Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for charge capture and/or payment posting. Interacts with CSC sites to ensure proper charge entry. The duties include, but are not limited to

  • Patient & Employee Relationships: Interact with patients and employees respectfully and confidentially, consistent with the mission and values of CareSouth Carolina. 
  • Answering Phones: Answer, route, take messages, and handle phone calls promptly and courteously in accordance with established CareSouth Carolina procedures. 
  • Payment Posting: Enter payments and adjustments as indicated by Insurance EOBs and private pay into CPM Finance
  • Charge Entry: Enter charges as indicated by supporting documents. 
  • Cash Accounting: Handling and managing cash for patient care services and other users (i.e., petty cash, daily deposits, etc.).
  • Initiating processes for an insufficient check return. This includes reconciliation processes consistent with existing CareSouth Carolina procedures.

Skills/Education/Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Billing or Revenue Cycle Specialist is required. Three or more years of experience is preferred.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic statistical analysis and business mathematics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work independently and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday
