The Medical Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers by managing a wide range of administrative and clinical tasks, with a primary focus on optimizing provider efficiency and ensuring high-quality patient care. This position requires a proactive, organized, and patient-focused individual capable of balancing both administrative and clinical support responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
In this role, the Medical Administrative Assistant will be responsible for performing all clerical and information technology functions for assigned medical providers. This includes managing electronic medical records (EMRs), maintaining up-to-date patient demographic and insurance information, and ensuring compliance with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
In the capacity of a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), the Medical Administrative Assistant will also assist providers in delivering direct patient care within their scope of training. This includes preparing patients for examinations, supporting medical procedures and treatments, and contributing to the overall efficiency of patient care delivery—particularly within skilled nursing facilities. The duties include facilitating timely and accurate scheduling of patient appointments to meet all visit requirements, supporting the medical work-up of patients to enhance provider workflow, and ensuring seamless communication and coordination between clinical and administrative teams.
