Position Summary
The Dental Program Director provides operational leadership for the dental program, including the development of strategic goals and direction, and supports recruitment and retention of dental staff at CareSouth Carolina. This role collaborates with organizational leadership and departments to achieve annual business and strategic objectives. The position also oversees the Dental Operations Manager, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and management of the dental department. The duties include:
- Participates in the development of and ensures compliance with the dental department’s operating budget. Prepares special grant and project budgets as needed to support organizational goals.
- Collaborates with the Dental Operations Manager and EMR Team to monitor EMR performance and oversees system updates, testing, and implementation of new components.
- Partners with the Revenue Cycle Director to ensure accurate coding, billing, and collection of dental services.
- Investigates and resolves patient grievances related to quality of care.
- Develops, implements, and maintains dental department policies and procedures in alignment with current professional standards.
- Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of new dental programs and initiatives.
- Assists with the solicitation, development, management, and evaluation of grants; provides input for HRSA reporting as needed.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing strategies for the dental department.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Represents CareSouth Carolina positively in the community.
- Prepares and submits monthly reports on dental department performance, initiatives, and key issues for Risk and Performance Improvement meetings.
- Collaborates with the CNO regarding the following of sterilization and infection control guidelines
- Collaborates with Human Resources and the Dental Operations Manager to support short- and long-term recruitment strategies.
- Ensures timely completion of provider performance evaluations.
- Travels as needed to support organizational needs and represent the dental department.

- Ability to support the development and execution of departmental goals, programs, and long-term initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
- Skill in developing, monitoring, and managing operating and grant budgets, with an understanding of cost control and resource allocation.
- Skill in planning, implementing, and evaluating new programs and initiatives to improve access, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that align with current standards and organizational expectations.
- Strong analytical skills to investigate issues (including patient grievances), identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with leadership, staff, and external stakeholders; builds trust across diverse groups.
- Proven ability to work across departments (operations, HR, revenue cycle, leadership) to achieve shared goals.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and track multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing needs, and take initiative in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, practice management, or a related field, including experience with budgeting, program development, and team collaboration.
- Experience in a community health center or FQHC setting preferred.

Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00, but as the director will be on call as needed
