Position Summary

The Clinical Psychologist works in collaboration with the health care delivery system of CareSouth Carolina, which includes primary care offices within CSC, long-term care facilities, and school-based counseling services, to develop and provide plans of care and clinical mental health counseling services aimed at improving the patient's mental and physical health. The Clinical Psychologist selects, administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests and completes psychological assessments. The Clinical Psychologist assesses psychosocial factors of individuals and families, to diagnose and treat complex mental health disorders and addresses any co-morbid alcohol and drug use. The Clinical Psychologist develops and implements treatment plans with evidence-based goals and objectives. Service coordination and compliance with federal, state, and local entities are required for the highest standard of patient confidentiality and care. The duties of the position include:

  • Clinical counseling: provides consistent, evidence-based mental health counseling (CBT, IPT, PST) for patients of all ages, with mild, moderate, or severe mental health and/or substance use disorders. The goal of assessment and treatment is remission or recovery of symptoms.
  • Provides biopsychosocial assessments and treatment of mental health and/or substance use disorders to adults, adolescents, children, and families, using age-appropriate screening and assessment tools, and providing age-appropriate modality of CBT.
  • Clinical and all required documentation in the EMR: Document all IPOCS and Clinical Service Notes, including Referral Order, MNS, beneficiary signature, and 90-day summary sheets per Medicaid per mental health industry standards and per SC Medicaid and all other 3rd party payers within 2 working days.
  • Use of clinical supervision: Clinical Psychologist contacts the BH director and or peer BHP for case consultation as needed to avoid errors and for shared decision making.
  • Clinical Psychologist meets productivity expectation of 65 encounters per month and 750 encounters annually.
  • The Clinical Psychologist administers the PHQ-9 or PHQ-A to all new patients over the age of 12 and re-administers to all patients with a diagnosis of depression at each BH session.

Required Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • A Ph.D. in Psychology is required
  • Must have an active South Carolina license to practice as a psychologist
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in the field is required
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to independently assess and diagnose complex mental health conditions
  • Ability to develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
  • Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, adults, and families
  • Ability to manage multiple clinical priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Ability to interpret clinical data, assessments, and behavioral observations
  • Ability to solve practical problems using clinical judgment
  • A valid driver's license is required

Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The Clinical Psychologist will work at various CareSouth locations, primarily in Latta and McColl, SC
