Job Description
The CMA/RMA will assist medical providers in the administration of patient care in the assigned clinical area functioning within the scope of his/her training. The duties include the following:
- Interacts with patients and employees in a respectful manner consistent with the mission and values of CareSouth Carolina.
- Willingly performs other duties as required.
- Reads and signs off documents and completes mandatory training in PowerDMS and Relias on time.
- Checks, reads, and responds to emails daily promptly.
- Other: Ear Irrigation
- Gives injections as directed by the medical provider if trained and has current competency evaluation for the injection.
- Participates in daily team huddle.
- Responding to Patient Phone Calls and Messages
- Entering Prescription Refills
- Performing Non-Clinical Tasks via Telemedicine
- Performing Screening Tests (ex: EKG, vision, hearing, etc.)
- Administering In-Clinic Medications
- Preparation and Administering Vaccines
- Entering Verbal Orders
- Point of Care Testing (ex: strep test, flu swab, urine dip, etc.)
- Authorized tasks that can be delegated to Certified/Registered Medical Assistants with appropriate training:
- Assists the provider with procedures per the provider’s directives if trained and has current competency evaluation for the procedure.
- Maintains clean, well-stocked, and organized exam and treatment rooms.
- Performs learning needs assessment annually.
- Performs PHQ screenings according to CSC guidelines.
- Provides the documentation of the following at every visit: vital signs (including the presence and degree of pain) allergies and a review of the patient’s medication.
- Manage the flow of patients by working patients up in the EMR timely and with completeness.
Education and Experience
- Completion of a medical assisting education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or its successor, by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools or its successor, or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, and which must include courses or components in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical laboratory techniques, and clinical experience, provided the clinical experience component may be satisfied through an individual's work experience with a health care employer.
- Maintains current certification from a certifying body offering a certification program that is: approved by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and the Board of Nursing; and is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or other accreditation body recognized by the Board of Medical Examiners and the Board of Nursing.
- Current CPR is required

Monday – Friday; 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
