Dr. Roosevelt G. Daniel, received a Bachelor of
Arts in Biology from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and his medical
degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Daniel completed
his residency at Brody School of Medicine (East Carolina University). This
residency was in internal medicine and pediatrics. He is a member of The
North Carolina Pediatric Society and The American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Roosevelt Daniel’s gentle and professional manner provides quality

Susan Scouten, APRN-BC, received her Bachelor of
Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and received a Masters
of Community Health Nursing and Certificate of Graduate Studies in Family
Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She has professional

Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau,
Alpha Xi Chapter. She served as director of a Nurse Practitioner staffed

Carolina College in Columbia. Betsy is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life
Support, Basic Life Support and CPR. Her objective is to provide primary
health care to individuals and families of all ages with a focus on
wellness, illness prevention, performing physical examinations and treating
illnesses. Her experience includes FNP positions at Carolina Internal
Medicine-Mary Black Health System and Family Practice Associates-Mary Black
Health System, both in Union, South Carolina. |

Sharon Denise Swinton, LMSW is a licensed
clinical counselor for CareSouth-Carolina at the Hartsville site. Mrs.
Swinton completed her undergraduate degree at Benedict College in the field
of Social Work. She furthered her education in the School of Social Work at
Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her graduate internship was
done at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where she obtained an interest in
HIV/AIDS population in terms of their treatment and care. Her master's
thesis was dealt with the topic of providing treatment to the HIV/AIDS
population along with ways of fostering prevention. She continues her
interest in the field as a counselor and an advocate for better treatment
services to individuals suffering from AIDS, mental illness, and a variety
of other clinical problems. |

Dr.
Paul A. Coward,
received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Clemson University and his
medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. While at MUSC,
he did research on artificial valve replacement. Dr. Coward did his
internship and residency at Akron General Hospital and Akron Children’s
Hospital with most electives spent in cardiology and neonatology. From
1972-1974 he served as a pediatrician in the United States Air Force. He is
a Fellow in American Academy of Pediatrics, Certified by American Board of
Pediatrics. He has organized and chaired the South Carolina Chapter of the
AAP Child and Drug Abuse Committee. Dr. Coward has been caring for children
in Hartsville since 1975. |

Jacob Coward,
MSN, CPNP, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and his
Master of Science degree in Nursing from Medical University of South
Carolina College of Nursing in Charleston, South Carolina. Jacob is
certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. His objective is to
provide holistic health care in an urgent care environment as part of an
interdisciplinary team. His experience includes caring for cirtically
ill children of all diagnosis as well as managing pediatric patients
with acute, episodic and chronic health care conditions through
assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of plan of care.

Patricia J. Nelson, received her Bachelor of
Science in Social Work from Buffalo State College and her Masters in Social
Work from State University of Buffalo. As a clinical social worker, Patricia
provided therapy for clients suffering from mental illness and /or drup/alcohol
addiction, developed a Mentally Ill and Chemically addicted Tract for the
Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Unit to treat dually diagnosed clients,
co-chaired continuous Quality Improvement committee and quality Assurnace
committee, and provided mental health education for hospital staff. She is
also experienced with providing assessment, prevention and referral services
to children, teens and adults. Patricia has worked in conjunction with
Research Coordinators to screen and offer treatment/referrals to women
identified as victims of Domestic Violence. |

Dr. Stephen Smith, Family Practice, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospitals. Serving as CareSouth Carolinas medical director since 1994, Dr. Smith has become a consummate provider of geriatric services in Chesterfield and Marlboro Counties, including the strongest nursing home practice in the Pee Dee region. Liz Kershner, MSW, LISW, holds credentials as a Licensed Master of Social Work and a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work from West Virginia University. Since 1991, she has served as the cornerstone of CareSouth
Carolina’s Behavioral Health program. As its director, she has established one
of the best integrated behavioral health and medical health programs in the
state. She has been involved in Social Work for the last twenty–six years and is affiliated with the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers. Recently, her work with clients at CareSouth Carolina has received national acclaim through her involvement in the National Depression Collaborative. |

also certified in pediatric advanced life support and neonatal advanced life
support and neonatal air transport. Dr. Candela is a member of The American

in the management of the acutely sick newborn and premature infant, and
their neurodevelopmental follow-up. |

practicum with the Diabetes of America Program. She has also been an
instructor at Lenoir Community College, where she was the recipient of
Excellence in Teaching Award. Causey’s experience helps her access,
diagnosis, monitor, coordinate and manage the health/illness status of
patients over time. She is well-rounded at using community resources in

Dr. George Moore, Jr., Family Medicine, received

McColl area in healthcare since 1973. Dr. Moore is a certified instructor

2002, working at our McColl site. Ms. McKoy has experience providing urgent

Planning. Ms. McKoy has demonstrated a compassionate attitude toward her

M. Robins,
D.O., received
a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University,
and her D.O. Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine from
there doing her Internship and her residency in Family Medicine at Community
General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. Dr. Robins is a member of
American Osteopathic Association, American College of Soteopathic Family
Physicians, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and
the American Osteopathic College of Occupational and Preventive Medicine.
She holds certifications with American Board of Osteopathic Family
Physicians, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, Basic
Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advances life
Support, Afvanced Trauma Life Support, and Certified Medical Review
Officer. She has experience in several different facets of family medicine
including inpatient and outpatient medical care, ICU privileges,

received her medical degree from University of Basle
in Basle, Switzerland and from UNIFESP School of Medicine in Sao Paulo,
Brazil. She complete her residency at Greenville Hospital System in
Greenville, South Carolina. She was born in Switzerland and speaks 5
languages, German, Portugese, English, Dutch, and French. Dr. Biester
is a highly trained medical professional with exceptional leadership
skills. Dr. Biester has fit in well in Chesterfield. She is very active
in the community and her patients have come to know her as a caring
person that spends quality time with them.

Cheryl Lynette Watson, has a Bachelor of Arts
Major in Psychology, with a Minor in Africana Studies. She received Masters
of Social Work from Adelphi University. As a clinical social worker, Cheryl
provided educational and advocacy services for patients and their families,

school age students. Cheryl has become a asset of our Chesterfield site by
affecting positive change in her patients lives by the application of her
