![]() Four years ago the CareFIRST Carolina board began the job of setting up a supporting foundation. The CareFIRST Carolina Foundation has, since that day in May of 2003, been striving to build the vision that CareSouth Carolina's board and staff had in mind. That vision was of a regional foundation that would improve access to specialty care needs and the availability to care for patients at greatest risk. "It was determined by the CareFIRST Carolina board through many referrals for assistance to the Foundation that this ultrasound probe was needed by CareSouth’s patients," said M.B. Godbold, president of the foundation. "Because of the lack of this equipment many patients were being sent to other more expensive facilities or, even worse, not being seen at all." The ultra sound probe purchased by CareFIRST Carolina will assist those with a specific medical need in our diverse communities and help build the infrastructure of CareSouth Carolina. M.B. Godbold presented a check from CareFIRST Carolina to purchase a thyroid probe for the new ultrasound unit at the Hartsville, South Carolina office to Ann Lewis, CEO of CareSouth Carolina. "We are honored by this gift and feel this is a wonderful addition to the many tools we have at our disposal that assist CareSouth Carolina patients,” said Lewis. “This donation will also help get us one step closer to being able to meet our goal of 70,000 of the healthiest patients in the world." |
