As you may know, the CSC Stroke Mobile program has hit the road.  The teams are now looking for locations to provide free screenings in Marlboro and Darlington Counties.  The Office of Minority Health funded project is working to reduce health disparities for stroke and heart disease in the minority population.     It is designed to bring education, health screenings and access to health care into the communities that need them most.  StrokeMobile teams in each county consist of a Community Care Manager and an Outreach Coach.    The teams will schedule health screenings at community settings, including stroke risk assessment, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, waist measurement and body mass index.  The screenings will also serve to recruit people who are at risk for stroke and heart disease to participate in a series of information sessions on stroke, healthy lifestyles and lifestyle changes.  The project is partnering with the Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County, Butler Heritage Foundation of Hartsville and the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine.  If you know of a location in the community where the StrokeMobile can screen, call Andy Kurtzman at CSC’s Bennettsville Center – 843.479.2341.
